What this tool does
Whose Turn is a local chore and duty rotator for flatmates, couples, and families. You add people and recurring tasks; the board shows who is up next for each one. Mark Done when it is finished, and optionally Pause someone so they are skipped while traveling.
Why you need it
“I did it last time” arguments waste energy. A shared, boringly fair counter removes the debate — especially when the same link lives in your WhatsApp or Signal group so every phone sees the same history.
How to use it
- Add the people in your household and the recurring tasks.
- Check Up next — that is who should do it.
- When finished, tap Mark done.
- Tap Copy share link and paste it in your group chat so other phones open the same board.
- Use Pause for travel or illness; Undo last if someone tapped by mistake.
Practical examples
- Trash night: Three flatmates, one trash task — fewest empties wins the next turn.
- Dishwasher: Pause a roommate during exams; they drop out of the queue until resumed.
- Takeaway pay: Separate task so dinner money rotates independently of chores.
- School run: Two parents, one task — transparent count in the group chat link.
How it works
For each task the tool counts how often each available person has completed it. The person with the lowest count is up next; ties go to whoever did it longest ago (or never). The board is stored in your browser and encoded into the URL hash when you share — Kitnax never receives your names or history.
Common mistakes
- Not resharing the link: Other phones only update when they open the latest share URL.
- Forgetting Pause: Travelers stay in the queue unless you tap Pause.
- One shared tablet only: Prefer the share link in chat so everyone’s phone is a remote.
- Treating it as a legal roster: It is a helper — talk through exceptions in person.

Can we use it on more than one phone?
Yes. Copy the share link after updates and open it on other phones — the URL hash carries the board.
Is my household data uploaded?
No. Data stays in localStorage and in the share-link hash you send yourself.
What does Pause mean?
Paused people are skipped until you tap Pause again to resume them.
Does Kitnax take responsibility for chore disputes?

Can I undo a mistaken Done tap?
